On the other side
The bigger the name in Guarujá, the less he wants to be seen. Photo, surname and what he is looking for stay inside the site, for people who also joined.
Their schedule explains the rest: a full routine, little time to look around. Whoever sends the first message gets ahead.
Make the first move

Step by step

Every profile says in one line what the person wants. You fly past whoever doesn't fit, open whoever does, and go back to the search.

Nobody guesses. What each one expects comes out in the first conversation, the way people talk. A deal is a deal.

She shows her face in the search. He does not have to. She sends the photos that are not on her profile, asks for his in the chat, and he unlocks it for whoever he wants, person by person. Few sites do this. Here it is standard.

Some are looking for someone who has already made it. Some like clearing the path for someone, and having company at Wednesday dinner. Here they find each other.
12.1 million Sugar Babies and 2 million Sugar Daddies in the community. Nobody here talks to an empty room.
Sugar Dating in Guarujá
Guarujá, on the island of Santo Amaro off the São Paulo coast, about an hour and a half from the state capital, has an active community on MeuPatrocínio, with women and men on the island and on the mainland side. They live in Vicente de Carvalho or between Pitangueiras and Enseada, work in the shops along the seafront, in hotels, in the logistics of the port next door, or take the ferry across to Santos every day. Real people, with names, schedules and limits.
What changes here is the beginning. You say what you are looking for before you leave the house. So does the other person. Every relationship has terms. Here they are said out loud, and nobody finds out the arrangement over dessert.
It starts with both people saying what they want before the first coffee: time, pace, what is possible and what is not. In Guarujá one more thing goes on that list, and it comes early: the calendar.
The island runs on two rhythms. People who live here all year work at the port, in the shops and in services, and know the city full in January and on long weekends and empty on a Tuesday in June. People with a flat by the beach drive down from São Paulo on the Imigrantes on Friday and go back on Sunday. Both lives fit on the same seafront, but not in the same diary.
So the first message says which side you are on. You live on the island or you come for the weekend. Which weeks you are around. What you are looking for and how often. What is off the table. Answer that in two sentences and you avoid the date that never finds a day, and the chat that lasts a whole summer without going anywhere.
The Pitangueiras promenade is the obvious choice and still the best one for the first time. Cafés open all day, movement, people around. You can end it in forty minutes without any awkwardness.
Tombo and Astúrias are for anyone who wants conversation rather than crowds. They are smaller beaches, the walk is short, and late afternoon there needs less explaining than a dinner booked in advance.
Enseada, the longest beach in the city, with restaurants spread along the avenue, is for the second time: dinner can carry on without anyone getting back in the car. Praia do Pernambuco and Riviera de São Lourenço, along the road, work once the thing already has some history.
Santos is one ferry crossing away. Anyone who would rather step outside the island’s circle crosses the channel and has dinner on the other side.
Time and direction, most of the time. Guarujá lives on the season: shops, hotels, restaurants, events. People who work like that know the full month and the empty month well, and look for someone who has done that arithmetic many times.
Mentoring is part of the request. How to handle an interview, what to study, when to accept and when to refuse, how to get out of a job that only exists in the summer. That is not bought, it is talked through.
Then comes the rest: someone adult, who answers a message, who does not disappear for three days and come back as if nothing happened. No games is a literal request.
Clarity and discretion, in that order. Guarujá is a beach city with a small circle. Anyone living here all year round runs into the same faces at the supermarket, in the ferry queue and on the same block of the seafront. Anyone coming down from São Paulo has the opposite problem: organising a week around two days.
The request on this side is the usual one: an adult conversation, a schedule that fits both calendars, someone who says what they want without circling it and keeps what was arranged.
Public place, always. The Pitangueiras promenade, a restaurant in Enseada, a café with people around. You arrive in your own transport and you leave in your own transport.
Tell someone where you will be. Send the name of the place and the time. It is not suspicion. It is what anyone sensible does.
In a weekend city one more rule applies. The first date is not at anyone’s home, not at a borrowed house, and not at a holiday rental. Somewhere public, and that is all.
Talk about terms before, not at the table. Arriving with the arrangement already settled leaves dinner free to be what it should be: two people finding out whether they like each other. And if they do not, that is fine. You both said what you wanted, it did not match, nobody lost a summer.

The terms are stated before the date: both people say what they are looking for, how often, and what is off the table, and only then do they meet. In Guarujá the calendar comes into it too, because part of the city is only here at weekends. The first date is usually coffee on the Pitangueiras promenade or dinner in Enseada.
Yes, there are women and men from Guarujá on the site, both people who live on the island and people who come for the weekend. Signing up is free, and your profile says what you are looking for before the first conversation.
On the Pitangueiras promenade, at a busy café. A conversation there can last forty minutes without anyone feeling stuck. Save Enseada for the second time, once you know the conversation holds.
It is as safe as any date with someone met online, with the same precautions: a public place, your own transport, a friend who knows where you are. In a holiday city, add one more: no first date at a rented or borrowed house.
Say so in the first message, together with the weeks you are in town. That way the conversation is not left waiting on a date that never arrives. For anyone driving down from São Paulo the window is usually Friday to Sunday, and it is better for the other person to know that upfront than to discover it later.
Signing up is free. You create a profile and write what you are looking for without paying anything.
Real, verified profiles, with the terms on the table. Pick yours.
