O Globo: Discover Why Older Men and Women Date Younger Partners

19 de March de 2026

Why do so many older men and women seek younger partners? O Globo went looking for answers and found a study of nearly 36,000 couples from 28 countries, published in Personal Relationships. The conclusion: this preference intensifies with age, among both men and women, although the effect is stronger among men.

The reasons range from biology to culture. Older men seek lighter relationships. Older women also look for younger partners, just in smaller proportions. The common denominator is the desire to escape the demands of conventional relationships.

No demands, full clarity

Caio Bittencourt of MeuPatrocínio was consulted for the article. In his view, the sugar model works precisely because all the cards are on the table from the start. Each person knows what they want and what they can offer. This eliminates much of the conflict that holds back couples in traditional formats.

MeuPatrocínio has surpassed 18 million users and is the largest sugar dating platform in Brazil. The coverage by O Globo reflects how the topic has gained traction in the media in recent years.

A straightforward approach

In the sugar model, nobody has to guess what the other person wants. Everything is discussed beforehand. That is the difference that matters most for those who decide to try it. Learn how the platform works. There are active profiles across the country, with highlights in Belo Horizonte, Brasília, and Salvador.
