A study of nearly 36,000 couples across 28 countries, published in the journal Personal Relationships, revealed a finding that is no surprise to those who follow the dating world: as people age, they tend to seek younger partners. Among men, this pattern is even stronger.
Psychologist Ana Guimarães, interviewed for the article, points out that there is no single cause. Biological, cultural, and psychological factors all play a role. Historically, older men are seen as more stable and experienced, and this perception continues to influence many people’s choices.
Where sugar dating fits in
Caio Bittencourt, a specialist at MeuPatrocínio, explained in the article that sugar relationships create space for these preferences to exist openly. “These are sincere, easygoing, and mature relationships,” he said. Nobody pretends to want something different from what they actually want.
MeuPatrocínio has over 18 million registered users and connects people from all regions. Capital cities like São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Brasília have the highest concentration of sugar daddy profiles.
An international trend
The study confirms this is not unique to Brazil. All 28 countries studied showed similar patterns. But Brazil stands out for the pace of growth in sugar dating platforms, and MeuPatrocínio has been part of this movement from the very beginning. See how the platform works.
